About H.264  H.264/AVC is the new emerging compression video standard, that brings a 50% bitrate saving over the well established MPEG-2.

The ITU (International Telecommunications Union) and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) have agreed to develop together the H.264/AVC standard, because of its large momentum. As a consequence, the H.264/AVC standard is known by many different names: H.26L, MPEG-4 part 10, AVC, JVT
and H.264/AVC.
